Braided Copper Cuff “Mamba” Bracelet - DIY Wire Jewellery + Copperphos Brazing #copperbracelet
Learn how to make a unique braided copper cuff bracelet using salvaged copper wire, a trollen wheel and the “Mamba Braid” technique. This beginner-friendly DIY jewellery tutorial also demonstrates copper brazing using Copperphos rods and a simple MAP-Pro torch setup. In today’s DIY jewelry tutorial, we’re creating a truly beautiful and unique braided copper cuff bracelet… using a pattern and method that’s actually as old as the hills. Now you might be wondering — how can something so ancient still be unique? Let’s take a look — and see how it’s been adapted into what I call the “Mamba Braid” - inspired by the highly venomous snake — both in its striking look and its ability to transform. Just like a snake sheds its skin, this pattern evolves through a myriad of variations, each with its own character. In this tutorial, you’ll be guided through the pattern and its various stages step by step. You’ll also see how the cuff ends are brazed using a simple upright, air-fed torch with MAP-Pro gas — along with why achieving a perfect copper colour match with brazing rods and an air fed torch is nearly impossible. How to restrict the braze from leaching will also be discussed. I’ll be using Salvaged 12-gauge copper wire — turning something humble into something beautiful. If you create your own variation of the Mamba Braid, feel free to share it in the comments.
