After enduring the humidity of June, as July arrives, these caudiciform plants seem to "switch on" and begin to move. Some plants have thrived thanks to the care they received since spring, while others still need adjustment. The interesting thing about this time of year is how clearly each plant's individuality emerges. The delicate leaves of Pachypodium gracilis, the white skin of Pachypodium ambongense, the red skin of Pachypodium baronii, the Decaryi's response to water, the quiet movement of Pachypodium windsorii, the three-dimensionality of Pachypodium makaiense, the resilience of Pachypodium inopinatum, the adorable roundness of Pachypodium densiflorum, and the vigorous growth of Pachypodium lamerei. Each plant has built a "summer-hardy body" by receiving sunlight and wind since spring. With thickened trunks, lush leaves, and a radiant glow in the sunlight, they are truly the stars of early summer. We are documenting the expressions each plant displays through the camera.
