The Extraordinary Rise of FC Union Berlin
Union Berlin became a hotbed of punks, rebels, and opponents to GDR prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall. In 2004, fans donated blood to keep the club afloat, and in 2008, supporters volunteered to renovate the club's stadium. More than a decade on, Union reached the Bundesliga for the first time, and now they're flying high alongside the likes of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Borussia Monchengladbach. So in today's video, HITC Sevens takes a look at the incredible fan culture at Union Berlin, the club's struggles in the past, and how they turned their fortunes around.
