This mountain has an altitude of about 2,868 meters above sea level and is located in the Malang Regency area. Mount Butak is one of the popular hiking destinations in East Java, although not as big as Mount Semeru or Mount Bromo, but it offers beautiful natural scenery as well as challenging hiking trails. Mount Butak / Buthak can also be climbed through the Panderman trail, which does offer a different experience compared to other trails. This Panderman Trail is located around the Batu tourist area, which is also quite popular among tourists. The climb via Panderman usually starts from the village of Tlekung, which is located at the foot of Mount Panderman. The Panderman Trail to reach the top of Mount Butak is a bit longer and challenging, but it provides stunning views along the way. During the hike, you will pass through pine forests, grasslands, and several points with very beautiful views, especially in the morning when the fog still covers the valleys around Batu and Malang. The journey to the summit via this trail can take between 5 to 7 hours depending on the speed and physical condition of the climber. The peak of Mount Butak from the Panderman route provides a very spectacular 360-degree view, with views of Mount Semeru, Mount Arjuno, Mount Welirang, as well as views of the city of Malang and Batu. If you plan to go through this route, several things that need to be prepared include sufficient physicality, good climbing equipment, and enough water and food supplies because this trail is quite long.
