Founded by musician and educator Odwa Mvunge, the choir has been active for the past 12 years, providing a space for local children and young people to explore self-expression, build confidence, and find hope through music. Known for their energetic and heartfelt performances, the choir blends traditional African rhythms and harmonies with expressive movement and dance. Their diverse repertoire spans gospel, traditional songs, and contemporary music, and they have performed widely at festivals and concerts across South Africa, earning high praise for their emotionally resonant stage presence. In 2024, Zolani Youth Choir won the grand prize at an international a cappella competition held in Russia, capturing hearts around the world with their passion, talent, and unity. Many of the members come from township communities and challenging circumstances. Through the choir, they are empowered to dream, grow, and express pride in who they are. The choir itself has become a powerful symbol of hope and resilience within the community.
