History of Forests in Illinois Webinar Presentation
Understanding the forests and trees of yesterday will help us better manage the trees of today. This webinar reviews the history of forests in Illinois and how drought, ice, fire, and humans shaped the landscape and influenced the tree species and where they grow. These historic influences have combined with more modern factors, such as deer overpopulation, invasive species, fuel/fiber needs, fire exclusion, and population growth to form the forest as we see it today.
