Like, honestly, how could a Naruto who has experienced this whole series from one end to another come back to the beginning and just choose violence? The best answer I have is just that this is another one of the Amagi’s infinite tsukuyomi dreams. But that seems a little lackluster for an in-universe explanation. So I think the best answer to use is this: Naruto, through the whole series, has fought against his hatred in an effort to be kind to people. Even toward the Fourth Shinobi World War is was shown he was still secretly struggling with this. He appeared to have conquered it at the Waterfall on the Turtle Island, but… what if he didn’t? What if that part of him continued to live within Naruto, merely suppressed? And then, when this story starts… that evil part of him is the ONLY part of him that gets reborn? A hatred so deep and passionate that it became a personality all to itself before Naruto had the chance to calm it down. One that festers in bitterness and begrudges all those around who stood on and watched, doing nothing while he suffered. I wonder what kind of life this Naruto might live.
