My   / lexxflaber   A new sound has appeared somewhere under the hood, somewhere on the right side. I've been meaning to replace the accessory belt for a while, but I've never gotten around to it. Now the time has come. I was hoping the noise was coming from the tensioner or "idler pulley" and that replacing it would be easy and inexpensive. But alas. No such luck. After removing the belt, it became clear that the noise was coming from the water pump. It wasn't leaking yet, but there was noticeable play and a clanking sound in the bearings. Replacing this component is extremely inconvenient and troublesome... For swearing or insulting comments, the author will be permanently banned!
