The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, led the delivery of homes, deeds, and mortgage releases this Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Cuautla, as part of the Housing for Well-being program, a strategy that seeks to guarantee access to decent housing for low-income families and transform the social housing model in the country. During the event held at the "Plan de Ayala" housing development, the federal president symbolically handed over 128 new homes and 207 property deeds, benefiting families in Morelos who now have legal certainty regarding their property. Sheinbaum emphasized that the new Housing for Well-being model prioritizes the construction of larger and better-located homes, with 60 square meters of living space, at least two bedrooms, green areas, sports facilities, and access to basic services, leaving behind the old schemes of small homes far from urban centers. She also explained that, thanks to the coordination between the Mexican government, the government of Morelos, and the municipalities, it was possible to significantly reduce the cost of housing by simplifying procedures, eliminating various administrative fees, and implementing a direct financing scheme from Infonavit, allowing homes with a market value exceeding one million pesos to be purchased for less than 700,000 pesos. The president also highlighted that the program's national goal was expanded to 1.8 million homes during the six-year term, while in Morelos the target increased from 8,000 to 13,000 homes, with an investment exceeding 8.15 billion pesos, solidifying the state's position as one of the beneficiaries of this social welfare policy. In addition to the construction of new homes, the program includes the regularization of property ownership for thousands of families through the issuance of deeds, the free release of mortgages, and the restructuring of unpayable loans, strengthening the property security of beneficiaries. The event was attended by the Governor of Morelos, Margarita González Saravia; the Secretary of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development, Edna Elena Vega Rangel; the Director General of Infonavit, Octavio Romero Oropeza; the Director of CONAVI, Rodrigo Chávez Contreras; and the Director of INSUS, Víctor Rubén Guzmán Dagnino. The Secretary of Welfare, Leticia Ramírez Amaya, and the mayor of Cuautla, Salvador Molina Martínez, were also present. In the final part of her message, the mayor also addressed the security situation in Cuautla. She acknowledged that the Mexican government is attentive to the problems stemming from the investigations involving former mayor Jesús "N" for alleged ties to organized crime, and reported that a reinforcement strategy has been implemented in coordination with the government of Morelos.
