Living Landscapes of SG̱ang Gwaay: Ḵ'aang.ahljuu | Parks Canada and Haida Nation
In August 2021, a team of Gwaii Haanas staff, Parks Canada archaeologists, and Haida Gwaii Museum experts went to work on SG̱ang Gwaay after artifacts had been exposed during a hurricane force storm. The team returned to SG̱ang Gwaay in August 2022, this time to focus on areas across the island. What was found reveals more of the stories of the island’s history, giving us a deeper understanding of what life on SGang Gwaay might have looked like thousands of years ago.
