Survival Tips. How To Make A Fatwood Firestarter.
Fat wood, pitch pine, lighter wood. Whatever you choose to call it, it is an amazing fire starting aid. The pine resin soaked wood is very flammable and even a small amount burns for a long time. When combined with a farro rod and a way to strike it you will have an almost guaranteed fire. In this video we collect fat wood from the woods, cut and shape it to size and insert a large farro rod into it. This creates an easy to grip handle that can be scraped for a very flammable tinder. Even in wet weather this will be very reliable.
