Cap Ferret & Arcachon, 🇫🇷 3-Day Travel Blog & Itinerary

Today we explore Cap Ferret and Arcachon Basin 🌊a very beautiful and unique environment, not far from Bordeaux. The large tidal range incessantly shapes the landscape, creating a distinctive atmosphere. The area is also known for oyster tasting experiences🦪🦪 📌 Mini-itinerary Day 1 – Cap Ferret Day 2 – Arcachon Basin Day 3 – Arcachon – Dune du Pilat Cap Ferret 🐚🦪– an enchanting town situated on a peninsula. The Atlantic side of the peninsula offers endless sand beaches where you can surf or walk long distances. You can still find ruins of the WWII Atlantic walls here, partially buried by sand.🌊🌊 The eastern side of the peninsula lies over the Arcachon Basin, with apparently calm waters that actually exhibit strong tides. Currents may be pretty strong as the ocean ebbs and flows in and out the basin. These waters are also known for oyster cultivation. Stop to see Cap Ferret’s iconic lighthouse and Dune du Pilat from a distance. Arcachon Basin 🐚🦪– enjoy a coastal drive along the basin, passing by pine forests, stopping at small villages with elegant waterfront villas, oyster huts and small boats stuck in sand at low tide. Arcachon 🦪– stroll in this elegant city, looking for Belle Epoque villas. Then spend time at the beach, right in front of the promenade, where you can swim or paddle boarding on calm waters. Boat tours are a nice option to see tiny islands, oyster farms and fishing cabins. Dune du Pilat 🌊– the tallest sand dune in Europe, backed by forest and in front of the ocean.
