Symmons Temptrol Model A Shower Valve Washer Replacement

Every 5-6 years, I find the shower valve has to be turned past "OFF" to get the water to fully stop. Part of the problem, IMO, is over tightening of the valve, possibly due to the shower head dripping a bit after the water is shut off. This may be tricking the shower users into thinking the water is still on, and some extra oomph gets applied to the valve. Over time, this overtorquing of the valve squishes the washer in this model. Yes, I know the caulk looks horrible - so much for "mold resistant"! I forget if it was GE or DAP, but it did not hold up as long as I had expected. In this video, I show you the process I use to replace that washer. As always, know your limits, and call in a pro if you are not comfortable. At least you can see what goes into the replacement process. Thank you for watching! Don't forget to like and subscribe to see more and support my channel!
