It's a development of calluses, which dogs rely on, especially large dogs that carry more weight. When they lie down on harder, rougher areas, the skin becomes more resistant and can become injured. Gradually, several injuries cause edema (fluid buildup) at the site (elbow), causing inflammation. Most treatments involve the use of anti-inflammatories, and some veterinarians use local drainage by suctioning the fluids with a syringe and needle. However, in most cases, antibiotics and anti-inflammatories are necessary. There are cases that can be confused with lymphoma, which is a malignant tumor that progresses very quickly and can affect internal and vital organs, even leading to death. I must be very careful not to confuse the two problems. One of my main considerations is to investigate whether the organs are functioning properly, especially the liver and kidneys, as these are the organs that metabolize the antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medications used to treat hygroma. If these organs are healthy, you can safely undergo treatment.
