In 2025, the city also made waves as the host of Southend City Jam, the UK’s largest street-art festival. From 29 to 31 August, more than 250 local, national, and international artists transformed over 100 walls across the city centre and seafront with murals and installations, turning Southend into an open-air gallery. After the live event has passed, many of the artworks remain as part of a growing collection of permanent public art. Alongside this cultural highlight, Southend continues to offer theatres, green spaces, shopping, and easy transport links, blending traditional seaside charm with a thriving modern identity.
