Loch Lomond-The Hard Way-CDT-Saint Mary's Glacier-Arapaho National Forest-Solo Day Hike

June 11, 2026- Saint Mary's Glacier-Across The CDT-To Loch Lomond. My first time here. I had intended to hike up to the three alpine lakes above Loch Lomond but the trail from the CDT up there was really far away and one quarter of the way up to James Peak. I decided I'd try to get there by way of Loch Lomond, there is a trail on Gaia and Alltrails but the trail disappeared into Willows and boulders. So I settled for Loch Lomond as my destination. It was so cold and windy when I arrived at the Saint Mary's Trailhead. I didn't know if I would make it but the winds died down once I was on the Continental Divide. Trail condition were perfect. Loch Lomond was stunning with a huge waterfall. I met my first Thru-Hiker ever. This is his Triple Crown hike, he's hiked the PCT and AT. He started in April. I was exhausted as the entire hike is above 10,000 feet. 6 miles and 1600 feet of elevation gain. Fun adventure!!
