The suspects, who were traveling in a pickup truck, ignored a stop sign at a National Police checkpoint, leading to an exchange of gunfire and a chase through various parts of the capital that resulted in a collision between two police patrol cars. During the operation, authorities seized a high-caliber AR-15 rifle, which is presumed to have been the motive for the attempted escape.
