A sore throat was something Yvonne had always dealt with in her life, but this particular sore throat was only on one side of her throat. After months of dismissing her sore throat as stress from life changes, an ear, nose and throat specialist diagnosed Yvonne with stage 4 Oropharyngeal cancer, a type of head and neck cancer. There was a tumor on Yvonne’s tonsil, and the cancer had spread all the way down the back of her tongue. After a 7-hour surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, Yvonne is back to living her life, but in a much different way as she had to re-learn how to eat, swallow, and drink again.
