Amid high racial tensions, consistent stop-and-search tactics from white police on the black youth of the area, and the tragic unsolved deaths of 13 black youths in a fire at a party, tensions spilled over. The legacy of the unrest is unforgettable but unfortunate. Home to a large Jamaican community due to the windrush migration of the late 1940’s onwards, Brixton is a place like no other! Once a crime-riddled and troubled neighborhood, Brixton has undergone some redevelopment, but is it still dangerous to walk around with a camera in the estates?
