Bay Laurel is a Mediterranean evergreen with a fresh, spicy and warming fragrance. Its essential oil is associated with courage, concentration, endurance and renewed vitality. The tree is resilient, adaptable and can reach 10–18 metres in height. Its aromatic leaves are used in cooking, while leaf and berry oils appear in cosmetics and household products. In ancient Greece and Rome, laurel symbolised victory, honour, achievement and poetic excellence. It also represents prosperity, resurrection and immortality in Christian and Chinese traditions. The essential oil is steam-distilled from dried leaves and branches. Its aroma is mainly shaped by 1,8-cineole alongside eugenol, linalool, pinene and other compounds. Traditional uses include respiratory, digestive, muscular, skin and nervous-system support, although medical claims require scientific evaluation. Overall, Bay Laurel is portrayed as a symbol of protection, inner strength, mental clarity and renewed energy.
