In the eighth canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam... Vyasa says " Lokanam Lokapalanamakarodvamanam patim" . That is, the Bhagavatam says that after fulfilling the purpose of incarnation, Brahma, the father of the Prajapatis, made Vamana the lord of the worlds and the lords of the worlds in order to please Kashyap and Aditi... and to do good to all living beings. The scripture says, "Rakshantu Dishah Sarvaah Sarvaada Loka Sankaramkaah." Since such lords are the lords, worshipping Vamana gives great protection.
