Güstrow in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania – Since the beginning of October, the town has once again been in the news. Eight-year-old Fabian was murdered there. But it's not the first murder to shake the town's approximately 30,000 residents. On March 4, 2018, 36-year-old Sophie Wagner was murdered. The mother of two had just separated from her long-term partner, Jens, with whom she had a child. Her second son was from a previous relationship. She met police officer Maik on Facebook. She fell in love and wanted to make a fresh start. She believed in the good – she believed in love – and paid with her life. Did her new dream man have anything to do with it? This true-crime documentary reconstructs real German criminal cases in a gripping and unique way. The documentary format tells the story in detail from the victim's first-person perspective, right up to the murder. Afterward, the investigation is described, culminating in the solving of the murder. The victim's family and the actual investigators have their say. The events are reconstructed chronologically using original footage and actors. The viewer follows the events leading up to the crime, the investigation, and the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
