The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, emphasized the importance of strengthening science, technology, and research to address various global challenges. He made this statement while delivering a scientific speech at the 23rd Anniversary of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. According to Jusuf Kalla, the world currently faces various major challenges, ranging from geopolitical conflicts and economic crises to climate change. Therefore, Indonesia must strengthen its human resource capacity through education, research, and technological mastery to be able to compete globally. Jusuf Kalla believes that the nature of competition between countries has changed and increasingly relies on technological mastery. In this context, universities have a strategic role in generating innovations that can increase productivity and strengthen the nation's competitiveness. He also encouraged universities to continue developing research and innovation that not only generates knowledge but also provides real solutions to various societal problems and supports national economic progress. In addition to emphasizing the importance of technological mastery, Jusuf Kalla encouraged students to shift their mindset from job seekers to job creators. According to him, a nation's progress is largely determined by the number of productive and innovative entrepreneurs.
