It's high time to upload a proper Lunatic clear. Exactly, Dissonant Lunatic. A.k.a. Lunatic+, Ultra, however you call it. Well, we won't make it easy way, right? Yeah, this and Extra stage video should have been uploaded much sooner, I'm aware of it. Worry not, I have many videos in queue already. Think about it as polishing gameplay and stuff. ----- Ahh yeah. Ephemeral Unnatural Balance. I think we don't need to introduce the game, previous video quite well has shown how the game looks like (and how much one can get life pieces too :V). Yet, for the sake of completeness, first things first. STORY! Quote, from Touhou Wiki, starts... now: "A mysterious spell has deceased upon Gensokyo. The result is a devastating reversal of power between the strongest and weakest and everyone in between. Bedridden or otherwise incapacitated, the usual incident solvers are unavailable this time. Thus, they are forced to turn to a new set of heroines. Among these are the forgotten Kirin, Rin Satsuki, and the wild hermit, Kasen Ibaraki." Quote end. Clearly as that, we're dealing with an incident. Nobody knows who did that, none of our usual heroines are capable of solving it. Great. So now we need to count on our new set of heroines until everything settle. We have three playable characters: Rin Satsuki, Kasen Ibaraki and extra third character to the party - last one I'll keep as a secret~ Playthrough over 6 stages across 4 difficulties. Additionally, Extra stage on two difficulties (Extra and Elite Extra, being closer to Lunatic). As a bonus, if you're seeking for greater challenge, there is separate Dissonant mode that can be applied on any difficulty and raise it to an extent. EUB introduces special mechanism called "Discord mode" and related Balance gauge (no, it's not our chat app we're talking about...). You can activate it by having enough Balance accumulated. Balance items on the other hand can drop from enemies, on Spellcard clears and as a bonus from staying in Discord mode for enough time on nons and spells. Upon activating Discord: Small radius around player gets cleared Attacks become tougher Shot gets more powerful Player gains life pieces over time - one per ~11 seconds, up to three at once On spellcards, you gain way higher score output. The longer you stay, the more score you get Balance items turn into PiV items It's more of "high risk, high reward" system. It's worth to use it in early game to get a bunch of lives for tougher times. Those who wish for better score would want to activate it on spellcards. It can act as a ass saver as well - you can deactivate Discord 3 seconds after activation, yet it might save you an unfortunate miss. There is much more to tell about mechanics, yet we will save you text reading. What is certain, is EUB is one amongst the best fangames out there. Well done plot, a lot of content, unique design, even despite later game being a real threat (difficulty-wise) it also gives a real freshness. To be fair, it has bigger difficulty curve than anything I faced so far. And it's not a bad thing. Most of stuff still remains balanced, and that's what should be important. In short: Support the devs and their hard work. Buy EUB.
