NASA Would Never Approve This Mercury Landing SFS Version 1.6
What happens if you replace a perfectly good landing system with a giant medieval lance? In this Spaceflight Simulator mission, I attempt one of the most ridiculous challenges yet: landing on Mercury without using engines for the initial touchdown. Instead, I attach a massive lance to the front of my spacecraft, crash into the planet, bounce back into the air, and then complete a powered landing before returning safely to Earth. Will the joust work... or will the mission end in a spectacular explosion? If you enjoyed this challenge, consider subscribing for more absurd Spaceflight Simulator missions, engineering experiments, and impossible space challenges.
