Hunger in Oleshky: Survival in Total Isolation. Food shortages in the occupied city of the Kherson region were acute in the winter and spring. Volunteers, officials, and relatives of Oleshky residents who remain in the town told Krym.Realii about this. They report that the town, located on the front line, is completely blockaded. The Antonovsky Bridge has been destroyed, leaving no route to Kherson. The other two roads – to the occupied Hola Prystan and Radensk – are mined and under fire and drone surveillance. A mass evacuation from Oleshky is impossible. According to various sources, which are currently impossible to confirm, between 1,700 and 2,000 people remain in the town, including 47 children. This winter, numerous deaths from starvation and freezing temperatures have been recorded. People are forced to hunt pheasants, eat pigeons, and measure out the remaining flour in cups. The town has no electricity, water, or gas. Stores and pharmacies are closed, and there are no medicines. Volunteers are reporting a humanitarian catastrophe in the city. The Ukrainian Ombudsman's Office is requesting a "green corridor" for residents of Oleshky. How are people surviving, and is there a chance to leave the city?
