OUTDOOR-NOOB wandert 1. MEHRTAGESWANDERUNG | SOLO | West Highland Way Tag 1

Hello everyone and welcome to my journey through the Highlands ⛰️ As promised, here's some information about wild camping (my experience around July 2023): On this trip, you'll pass through two Camping Management Zones – areas where wild camping is prohibited between March and September. Maps are available, including one at this link: https://www.lochlomond-trossachs.org/... or a more detailed one here: https://www.lochlomond-trossachs.org/.... While there are designated areas where wild camping is permitted for a small fee (Permit areas), I only found one such area in the second zone. My plan was to schedule my daily stages so that I could still camp in the wild – which is definitely possible. The only change I made to the videos afterward: Wild camping would have been possible on the first night as well, if I had continued walking. How? The "Drymen Camping" campsite is located a few kilometers before the town of Drymen itself. So, if you still have some energy left in your legs, you'll reach Drymen and the Camping Management Zone. The path leads through some meadows and woods, and wild camping is permitted there. Of course, you might also find a good spot between Drymen Camping and Drymen (I don't remember exactly), but there's definitely more to come after that. And another very helpful piece of information: The first Camping Management Zone is very well signposted. This means you always know which area you're in. The sign indicating the end of the Camping Management Zone is missing for the second zone. I compared the satellite map on Google Maps with the online map of the Camping Management Zone. As a guide, the end should be about 5-6 kilometers past Beinglas. And one more very helpful piece of information: The first Camping Management Zone is very well signposted on-site. This means you always know which area you're in. If you sometimes struggle to find a spot in certain places, there's almost always something near the classic stage destinations on the West Highland Way itself – I don't want to spoil too much just yet, but I'll include more information in the last few episodes. Otherwise, have fun and always leave everything as you found it ❤️ See you soon, the videos will hopefully be coming out quite regularly now :) And feel free to check out my Instagram, there's more outdoor content and behind-the-scenes ❤️ @luisaschiffner GaLiGrü
