Austroraptor | The Fish-Eating Raptor? | Dino Basics
The dromaeosaurs are some of the most conniving, dangerous, and ferocious predators to ever roam our earth. While certain members like the Velociraptor and Utahraptor can often hog the spotlight, one not so little hunter among them deserves their own bit of attention. Austroraptor is a fascinating case. It is one of the largest dromaeosaurs ever, yet boasts a less than usual arsenal for hunting. Non-serrated teeth, comparatively small arms, and a long thin snout, it is not apparent especially when comparing it to some of its raptor cousins what this creature would possibly do to survive. But we are only just scratching the surface of the Austroraptor. Did it even eat land-dwelling prey? Did its size secure it apex status in its home environment? And was this even a raptor at all? Let's find out!
