The street connects Masaryk's embankment by the Vltava with Spálena Street by Charles Square. This fork of the road forms a small square. This street also borders Prague 1 and Prague 2 city districts. https://goo.gl/maps/SS4qz64vLU3uHbZt7 The Emmaus Monastery (Emauzský klášter), called Na Slovanech in the Middle Ages, is an abbey established in 1347 in Prague. It was the only Benedictine monastery of the Bohemian kingdom and Slavic Europe. In the 1360s, the Cloisters of the Monastery were decorated with a cycle of 85 Gothic wall paintings with parallels from the Old and New Testaments. The Gothic cloisters also feature original faded frescoes with Pagan symbolism from the 14th century. The monastery was bruised in the 17th–18th centuries, and the two temple towers were added. Charles IV gave the manuscript Reims Gospel to the just-founded monastery. It was probably lost in Prague during the Hussite Wars. The manuscript later became part of the Reims Cathedral treasury. The monastery became a center of culture and art. Students of Cyril and Methodius studied there in addition to Jan Hus. During the Second World War, the Gestapo seized the monastery, and the monks were sent to the Dachau concentration camp. A U.S. bombing raid on Prague destroyed the monastery building and vaults on 14 February 1945. The modern roof with steeples was added in the 1960s. Returned to the Benedictine order in 1990, the monastery is administered by three monks, two of whom live there. https://goo.gl/maps/REtvFXg8xfLttSVRA My second channel: / @driverelaxradio Instagram: / perceptionphilosophy Recorded in 4k Perception Philosophy © 2024 April 28, 2024 Czech Republic
