Flewelling Canoe Restoration, Wooden Ribbed Fiberglassed Canoe, Part 2

In this video I remove the outwales, strip the interior of the canoe utilizing a heat gun as the primary method followed by stripping the canoe chemically with Circa 1850 which proved to be a great product. The heat gun removed the bulk of the varnish and then the Circa 1850 followed with the ability to use less product and scrub/scrape the remaining varnish off the interior with scraping tools and stainless steel fine mesh wool. Pleased with the result after many days of the aforementioned tasks. Also initiated the fiberglass removal and found plenty of surprises. What I had thought would be fairly easy by removing fiberglass affixed with polyester resin turned out to be untrue. Fiberglass matting was found throughout the port side of the hull, especially from the forward quarter thwart all the way to the stern. It was apparent that the matting was used for some structure and damage repair. Lots of matting and lots of curses. I wanted to get this video out since there has been a lot of interest in this particular project even though the fiberglass removal is not complete. I published since I will be undergoing full left knee replacment in a couple days and a full right knee replacement 6 weeks thereafter. It will be some time before the next video is published so I thought it was fair for those wanting to see the progress to see the progress. Thanks for watching and I truly appreciate your support. When I am back on own two feet strong and healthy again we will continue the project. Thanks for your patience.
