540 Cam 131 RoadGlide Build / Compensator Upgrade Install

Trying something a little different from the usual with this 131 build. This bike belongs to friend of mine & he wanted the 131 engine installed but also wanted to try different Cam from the CR512 I normally use. We both put our thinking caps on & pondered over cam after cam looking at all the specs. With no clear idea of what Tim wanted he said to me 'just find what you think will work for me Tommy, you know what I want & how I ride. After much research & many phone calls later to heaps of people that I trust their opinions I finally decided on the Cycle Rama CR540-2 Camshaft. One cam I had in mind before picking this one was the S&S 540 & even the S&S 590. I had heard (from reliable sources) that many folks using the S&S 540 Cam had not been happy with it's performance & were in fact removing & replacing it with other cams. The S&S 590 on the other hand has far too much lift & in fact starts to side load the valve stems as a result. The geometry of the head is just wrong for Cams that go over .550" lift in my opinion & the M8 heads work so well under that lift anyways. Sure, you can run roller rockers, & have the heads fully worked over to correct this but that was not in the budget for this build.
