Meanwhile, ZF - who manufactures these transmissions - says they should be serviced around 60,000 miles / 100,000 km. I personally don't buy what BMW claims - I don't believe there is any "lifetime fluid" out there on the market. And therefore, here I am, servicing the ZF8 Transmission with fresh fluid and new pan filter change on my 2020 BMW G20 M340i xDrive. Since my transmission is tuned with xHP, I have this performed earlier than the recommended service interval. Note that if you have a mild-hybrid model, the pan filter has a different design than the one I showcase, due to the placement of the addition start-stop filter that doesn't exist on the non-mild-hybrid models. As ZF8 Transmissions are broadly used in modern vehicles, the procedures taken to service them are vastly similar to what I've showcased with other makes and models that use ZF8 as their transmissions.
