Re-Reading Revelation, Lecture 1: Retrieving the Vision of Healing
When we launched the new series on the Book of Revelation in January 2021, we did not know much about sound quality and other technical matters. We have improved sound, picture quality, and content (!) The first question must be this: Why does Revelation have such a bad reputation? The novelist (D. H. Lawrence), the literary critic (Harold Bloom), and the philosopher (Nietzsche) savage the book. The Protestant reformers, including Martin Luther, didn't like it. And why do so many readers treat Revelation as the go-to text for God-ordained violence? A re-reader perspective means that the ending of the book will not be lost to view, and the ending is a vision of healing. This version, published 06.29.21 will replace the ones published earlier.
