Blind Pass Is Flowing Again. Here's What Really Happened

Blind Pass is flowing again. After months of sand buildup completely blocking the Gulf-side opening between Sanibel and Captiva, a new channel has broken through and tidal water is once again moving through the pass. But what caused it? Was this simply nature doing what nature does, with tides, currents, waves, and shifting sand reshaping the coastline? Or did three people with shovels help start the process?
