Beatriz Preciado - fighting gender binarism
Beatriz Preciado (subsequently Paul B Preciado) speaking on a panel in Ferrara about gender binarism. Preciado speaks of an international movement not to identify with the political regime that maintains heterotypical gender norms. They point out in passing that playing with a Barbie doll is playing with something that was initially based on a whore. In response to an intervention from Natasha Walter, they assert that 'I am not a woman and I am not a man'. It comes from a long panel discussion in Italian and English which is posted here: • The Return of Dolls In their book Testo Junkie, Preciado gives a much longer discussion of this. If possible try to buy it from somewhere other than Amazon :)
