Hello, my dear friends. Isn't it quite cold? I'm delighted to share with you this performance video, which I planned all last year, returned to Korea in November, and finished filming just before my departure in January. Since the release of my album, I've been feeling a bit apologetic about the lack of progress, so I've been planning the performance myself. This video highlights the butterfly tattoo I got 24 years ago, when I was 28, without my mother or family knowing. Hahaha. As many people close to me know, I have a personality like a sunfish, and my hearing is so unique that I'm startled by even a 0.1 dB change in sound. I'm also a bit timid. (In fact, because of this, I had some trouble with engineers in the UK early on. People who have worked with me for a long time know this trait well. Engineers often have a hard time discerning a 0.1 dB difference, so some people don't believe me. I've even been asked, "How can you have better hearing than me? How can you guarantee it on your husband?") I never thought about broadcasting or performing. I really wanted to share a live video I prepared in a space I enjoy and feel comfortable in. Actually, I received offers from several good programs, and some waited for me for over a year. However, after the release of my 6th album, I went back on my promise to appear on a program, saying I wanted to retire. Through this post, I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to MBC director Kim Sun-young and writer Kim Ji-yeon, even if it's a bit unexpected, saying, "I'm sorry. I love you." Of course, Jeong Dong-hwan joined us on the piano. I hope to perform "The Road to Me Is Beautiful" with a full orchestra someday. I received three years of lessons to write this song, record the performance, and properly record the vocals. After numerous re-recordings, I now have the stamina and strength to sing it for over two hours. In short, I wrote and challenged myself with a song I couldn't sing. However, it still requires more training, effort, and practice. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to Rob Johnston, a great tenor and vocal coach who guided me with unwavering trust, unwavering support, and dedication. It was a blessing to have a teacher who flew to London after moving from London to Dubai, and who even took painkillers to guide me on the day I had an emergency with a knee problem. I couldn't do that. However, I enjoyed his clear and cool-headed criticism and basked in the love he bestowed upon me as a teacher. I can stand and sing thanks to producer-engineer Geoff Foster, who recorded a full take of the song for three hours straight, and my teacher, Rob. The only thing I consider a success is that I believed and accepted the method they suggested. For me, the best thing about making music and living as a musician is that I had to "evaluate myself and strive to become a better, more competent person." Just like a great actor, performer, or pianist. The more my desire to achieve a good sound grew, the more I realized that I couldn't reach that goal without striving to become a better person and musically reflecting. I think that desire to reach that goal was the biggest driving force behind my music. Because I suffer from suffocation, making music is a huge challenge for me as I work to improve my temperament. Hahahaha If you ask me what music is to me, I'd say it's "love, connection, and sharing that love."
