Our gardener Carol Costa introduces the plant and explains some mysteries about this popular plant. With an unmistakable scent, rue is grown and used for its reputation as a protective plant. Popular wisdom says that it attracts bad energy – that's why it's one of the first plants to dry in a green arrangement known as "seven herbs". The group of plants in this vase is made up of sagebrush, snakeroot, rosemary, basil, guinea, pepper and rue. What happens is that pepper and rue are the two species that need the most care and, therefore, the two are the ones that suffer first. Being a plant native to Mediterranean regions, rue likes sun, but not heat. A well-drained substrate with good air circulation. A cramped and stuffy pot in a place without sunlight is not a good place for rue. To grow this plant, just use a large pot with a well-aerated substrate: chopped dry leaves and a part of sand help to create the perfect place for your rue to grow. Choose between one or three rue seedlings and plant them as Carol shows in the video, loosening the root ball before arranging the young ones in their new home. Important points about rue: it is toxic, so do not ingest it, but it can be used on the skin – as long as you talk to your doctor first. When crushed, it can be used against lice and scabies; a syrup can be applied to relieve insect bites. The most important thing to know is that the plant can cause skin blemishes when combined with sunlight. If you really want to protect the plant, it is best to use it as a repellent in sachets and plant it in your garden. 🔴 Make a HERB SPIRAL with me: https://www.cursosminhasplantas.com.b...
