The Journey Behind This Puffin Painting

For this painting, I traveled over 1,000 km across Iceland to the westernmost point of Iceland and Europe in search of Atlantic puffins. Even after the long journey over rough gravel roads, there was no guarantee we would see any. In this video, I take you along as I photograph these incredible birds in the wild and then turn one of my own photos into an oil painting from start to finish. I believe in creating my own references instead of using AI-generated images or photos from the internet. For me, the journey is just as important as the finished painting.
