Step-by-Step Example on How to Graph a Rational Function
We're graphing rational functions! To do this, we are going to follow 4 steps: 1. Factor 2. Find the Asymptotes: Vertical (Check for Holes) -Horizontal or Slant 3. Find the x-intercept(s) & y-intercept 4. Figure out the general shape of your graph by applying what you know about the function, or by plugging in points to get ordered pairs. It's also a good idea to check your work after graphing with a graphing calculator. Need more examples?
