This Small WV School is Combating the Water Crisis!

West Virginia’s Rocket Boys (And Girls) 2.0!!⁣ ⁣ I think one of the biggest stories in all of West Virginia, has received such minimal attention outside of the Southern Coalfields. Because let me tell you, when I heard that a group of students in a small, consolidated Wyoming County, WV school, went to Washington DC and stood in front of lawmakers and influencers alike, presented a water project that they had worked tirelessly on, and took home a first place trophy amongst schools exponentially larger than their size, I knew I had to do a story on it. And spending time with this group of 6th-8th graders and their dedicated teacher, it gave me serious hope for the direction of this crisis. ⁣ ⁣ This video is about phase 1 which was filtering their neighbors water into clean and drinkable use, but the students are not stopping there and BowmanTV is heading up a fundraiser to fund phase 2, and further phases. We’re blessed to have passed the first goal of $5,500 within 24 hours, but after a conversation with their science teacher Mrs. Baker, it’s very clear that to end the fundraiser now would be foolish as the more money they receive, the more they can accomplish. This includes but isn’t limited to, pursuing more IBC totes and filtration media, covering certified water testing in their community, building more units for their neighbors, training students as community water technicians, developing a mobile deployment unit for hard to reach areas, and building a trailer-mounted community system that can go where the need is the greatest. ⁣ ⁣ I have absolutely no question in my mind that these funds will be used for research and action-related items, where the need is the most, so I will keep this GoFundMe live through this series in Wyoming County, which will include 2 videos in Brenton, WV where they are in the middle of a crisis, and a final video here at Huff Consolidated, which will cover phase 2 in its entirety.
