外国人殺到！観光〝V字回復〟へ（2023年5月4日abnステーション特集）

Many foreign tourists are visiting Tsumago-juku, a post town that evokes the atmosphere of the Edo period. The reason for its popularity is a hiking trail called the "Samurai Route." This 8km course on the old Nakasendo road connects Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku. Walking the same path once walked by samurai and feudal lords...it's like traveling back in time to the Edo period! In fiscal 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, over 37,000 foreign tourists visited the area. Due to entry restrictions and other factors, the number dropped to less than 1,000 in fiscal 2021. However, it has since made a V-shaped recovery! More than 5,000 people visited last month, and this year's figure is expected to reach a record high. We also interviewed a group of French tourists who visited Matsumoto City.
