Discerning the time (Luke 12:54–59)
Christ speaks to the crowds who have heard his words and warnings about living in the light eternity. He talks about predicting the weather—something that they easily did, as we manage to predict what matters to us, taking the evidence and drawing right conclusions. He points out that they are missing the signs—able to predict the weather, they cannot draw the right conclusions from the things happening before their very eyes. Finally, he speaks of their facing judgment, calling them—and us—to make peace before we come to face the full weight of God's law.
