【山陽本線の一部だったローカル線】JR岩徳線に乗ってみた【昔は国際連絡特急も走っていた】

Before the Sanyo Shinkansen opened, the Sanyo Main Line was the main route to Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu. Even today, many freight trains run on it, making it a vital artery of logistics. In fact, there are several bypass routes. These include the Ako Line, which bypasses the coast between Aioi and Higashi-Okayama, and the Kure Line, which also runs along the coast between Mihara and Kaitaichi as an access route to naval ports. Among these, the Iwateku-Tokugawa Line, which bypasses the Sanyo Main Line between Iwakuni and Kushigahama and runs along the mountain side, is special. In fact, this line was once truly part of the Sanyo Main Line. Was this non-electrified, single-track line with a leisurely single-car diesel train really the world's greatest trunk line?
