Botoșaniul a renunțat la tramvaie. Autobuzele electrice, nefolosite
In Botoșani, the tram has become history after 34 years since the inauguration of the first line. The city hall is decommissioning the tracks, but the work is progressing slowly, due to poor financing. The tram network, built after the Revolution, was abandoned after losing 42 million euros in funding, and the six Tatra sets were sold for scrap. Authorities say that the tram was no longer efficient, while many Botoșani residents believe that it was the best solution for congested traffic. Meanwhile, 68 new electric buses are sitting unused because the city hall failed to provide the necessary infrastructure to make them operational. This is why local transport in Botoșani is provided by a private company.
