VN24 - 23.03.2021 - Unna / Germany - Police press release: On Tuesday (23.3.), a traffic accident occurred around 04:20 p.m. on the A1 highway near Unna. One person involved suffered minor injuries, the affected lane had to be completely closed. A rescue helicopter was called into action. According to the report, a 41-year-old man was driving his semi-truck on the right lane in the direction of Bremen (northbound). Shortly after the Dortmund/Unna interchange, he had to brake for traffic reasons. For reasons that have not yet been explained, a 26-year-old driver recognized this too late and drove his light truck (Citroen Jumper) including trailer onto the semitrailer. The light truck spun around, lost the trailer in the process and collided with the truck again in the area of its diesel tank. Flying debris also damaged another van that was traveling in the left lane. The 26-year-old suffered minor (!) injuries in the accident. He was airlifted to a hospital for further treatment. During the accident investigation and recovery work, the lane had to be closed in the direction of Bremen. The right lane and the hard shoulder were reopened at around 6:20 pm.
