What need is there for any other heavenly refuge when His grace alone grants true peace and liberation? Verse 3 O Shambhu, Your glory is sung by the Vedas and sacred scriptures. It is infinite, immeasurable, and beyond comparison. Who indeed can ever hope to describe the full extent of Your greatness? Verse 4 O Girisha, if only Your compassion falls upon me, may I attain unwavering devotion to Your holy feet. Through that devotion may I gain true happiness, lasting peace, and the supreme state beyond all sorrow. Verse 5 Your body shines brilliantly, adorned with pure white sacred ash. The serpents decorating Your neck, head, and shoulders radiate the dazzling brilliance of the precious jewels upon their hoods. Verse 6 Although You appear clothed in animal skin, Your very sight makes every day auspicious for us. May Your endless compassion protect us and grant us an inexhaustible ocean of happiness. Verse 7 Your true form cannot be fully understood even by the Vedas and scriptures. Though You appear in the wondrous form of Ardhanarishvara and even seem unusual to ordinary vision, You lovingly fulfill every noble desire of those who worship You. Verse 8 The mighty River Ganga, with all her powerful waves, rests peacefully within Your matted locks. Even a small offering of water poured upon You by sincere devotees washes away immense impurities and sins.
