第7話【江戸前鯊釣り -小粋な小道具たち-】

This time, we're explaining stylish tools for carp fishing. A variety of terms will be used again this time. Subtitles will appear throughout the video, but please see below for their meanings. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ① Gozaibako (Gosaibako) This refers to a wooden tool box, primarily used for tanago fishing, with a cushion attached to the top lid. It is not a traditional tool box; it appears to have originated from a tool box originally used for carp fishing, with a cushion attached for sitting. In particular, since the tools used for tanago fishing are small, including the fishing rods, they are all called "gozaibako," meaning a box containing all the "gozaibako" (all the tools). Other stores use the term "gozaibako," but our store, since our predecessor, has eschewed the "kiri" (cut) character and instead uses the "zai" (value) character, which signifies important tools. Since a heavy box would be difficult to handle, lightweight paulownia wood or red pine, which is easily available to craftsmen, is often used. Rather than reusing this treasure chest as a shark fishing toolbox, we designed and produced it as a shark box, specifically for shark fishing, by modifying the materials and specifications. The skill and playfulness of Edo joinery artisans can be seen throughout. ② Rod Holder Current rod holders, including those made by Daiichi Seikosha, are compatible with reel-equipped rods and are solidly constructed. Specific examples of these products are not necessarily user-friendly for shark fishing rods without reels. The rod holder shown in the video was made by a company called Seihokusha, and is almost exclusively for Japanese fishing rods. It features a simple structure and is designed with anglers in mind. It also comes in a pair, designed with shark and flounder fishing in mind. The line holders are attached differently on the left and right. Three sizes are available, and we have pairs of each on display in our store (not for sale). Seihokusha has already gone out of business, so these are no longer available. Since this rod holder is so well-made, I spoke with a craftsman and had him create a suitable storage bag for it. As shown in the video, this cotton storage bag is stitched with the same hidden seams as tabi socks, and has a divider inside to prevent the rod holders from bumping into each other. Here, too, the craftsman's ingenuity is evident. ③ Threaded Hook Storage Box Traditionally, hook cases were made by placing tied hooks on cut pieces of felt and then holding them in place with a thin vinyl sheet. This case had the disadvantage of the hook tips getting caught on the felt, but the "Threaded Hook Storage Box" has a magnet where the hooks are placed, so they won't get caught. We offer four different types to suit different hook lengths. I made this for tanago, but I use it for summer sharks (5cm hooks) and red-spotted sharks (7cm hooks). ④ Boat Bait Box Available for both a pair of rods and a single rod, both are secured to the rafters attached to the boat's side using a rod holder. The bait box in the video is a pair-rod bait box made by Edo joiner Hakoyuki. The two horizontal boards on the left and right sides of the bait box that secure it to the rafters can be stored in the bottom of the box. A small tray for placing cut bait is included inside. The string-attached grip scissors can be attached to a metal fitting on the side of the bait box. Made from fine wood and finished with genuine lacquer, these bait boxes are a perfect complement to Edo-style Japanese rods when fishing for sharks. ⑤ Threading/Sweeping Box (Two-Sided) This is also a playful and stylish piece, designed and produced in collaboration with Edo joiner Hakoyuki and a bag craftsman. A threading wire is essential even with a carbon fiber bait. For Japanese fishing rods, we also use an extremely fine steel file called a "sarai" to remove debris from the tip of the rod. These aren't used regularly, but since they're all around 1.5 meters long, they're rolled up for storage. If they're not stored properly, they can easily become bent or folded. Small paper bags or CD cases are commonly used, but these are far from stylish. That's why we created this storage box. Simply roll the rod into a small shape and place it inside the box without worrying about the end. We've also included a matching storage bag with a matching shark-patterned design on the front. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Otsuka Seki Fishing Tackle Shop Website: https://seki-tsuriguten.com/ #goby #goby #shark #higanshark #gobyfishing #gobyfishing #higangoby
