Benua Raksasa Indonesia yang Lenyap Ditelan Samudra | #alamaya

The Indonesia we know today once had a very different form. Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, the Malay Peninsula, and the surrounding areas were once connected by a single giant landmass known as Sundaland or the Sunda Shelf. When the Ice Age reached its peak, sea levels dropped by about 120 meters. The Java Sea, the Strait of Malacca, and parts of the South China Sea transformed into a vast landmass filled with tropical forests, savannas, freshwater swamps, and a network of giant ancient rivers. Humans and various large animals could move across what is now ocean. However, as the Earth's climate warmed and the ice sheets melted, sea levels slowly rose. The lowlands of Sundaland began to submerge, its rivers drowned, and the vast area eventually broke apart into the islands we now know as the Indonesian archipelago. How did the sinking of Sundaland occur? What was life like for ancient humans on the land now beneath the Java Sea? And could there still be traces of their lives buried beneath the ocean?
