Drawing Tutorial | How To Stipple In this video i show you step by step how to stipple. Stippling is a form of dot art that may be time consuming but can give your artwork a realistic look that cant be achieved in other drawing techniques.Stippling involves placing individual dots across a surface in a pattern. Instead of drawing a circle, you compose this shape with tiny dots, and shade it the same way to create the impression of depth. Stippling is used in this illustration to create an impression of a 3-dimensional shape Stippling is an exercise in the balance of positive and negative space, or space within a shape and space that's empty. When stippling, many effects are created by the amount of negative space you leave. A high concentration of dots implies a dark shadow. A surface with few dots, and thus plenty of negative space, creates the impression of a bright spot. This same can be applied to texture. Various patterns of stippling can be used to create the impression of a more textured surface. A surface with more dots and less negative space feels more textured. This also creates the impression of distance. Objects which need to feel closer should be more detailed and more textured, while objects in the distance tend to be less detailed, less textured, and contain greater negative space.
