KLIA2 Arrival, Immigration, MyBorderPass, Autogate, Transport - Enter Malaysia 2025

The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card must be submitted online within three days prior to arrival. If you haven't submitted the Arrival Card beforehand, computers are available before immigration at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 or KLIA2 for submission. When you arrive at the terminal, follow the signs to Arrivals. The MyBorderPass app enables immigration clearance using QR codes and facial recognition, eliminating the need for passports at border crossings. Currently, this service is exclusive to Malaysians, but plans are underway to expand access to foreigners by mid-2025. QR Code Clearance are Available at Kuala Lumpur International Airport - KLIA, Terminals 1 & 2 and Johor land checkpoints to reduce congestion, especially during peak hours and festive seasons. Immigration clearance via QR code takes 5-7 seconds, compared to 15-25 seconds with conventional autogates. for Foreigners, autogates are Available to visitors from 63 eligible countries and all diplomats and their families. Non-eligible passport holders can use the manual counters. The Immigration Department ensures that the QR code system at the autogates maintains security standards. To use MyBorderPass, travelers must download the app, register travel details, and complete facial verification before accessing the QR code system. At the autogate, passengers present their self-generated QR code for scanning. Once the gate opens, they step inside, complete facial recognition verification, and exit when the second door opens. KLIA Terminal 2 (klia2) consists of the Main Terminal Building (MTB), Skybridge, Satellite Building, and connected Piers (J / K / L / P / Q). It also features Gateway@klia2, a shopping mall with 225 retail outlets. The terminal includes 68 departure gates, 10 remote stands, and 80 aerobridges, making it the largest purpose-built terminal designed for low-cost carriers, catering to the rapid growth of budget air travel in the region. A recent layout reconfiguration has optimized counter and autogate placements to improve passenger flow, ensuring a smoother and more comfortable immigration process. The Arrival Hall, located on Level 2 of the Main Terminal Building, is where incoming passengers complete immigration and customs clearance before exiting the terminal. Immigration document verification and customs checks take place in this area. Despite the introduction of the QR code system, the manual counters and existing automatic gates will continue to be available for use, as confirmed by the Home Ministry. pork and pork products are prohibited from being brought into Malaysia without proper permits. Drugs and narcotics are strictly banned, with severe penalties, including the death penalty, for trafficking or possession of illegal substances. KLIA2 is about 57 km from kuala lumpur city center. From KLIA2, you can take the KLIA Ekspres for RM55, reaching KL Sentral in 28 minutes non-stop. The most budget-friendly option is the Skybus or Aerobus, costing RM12 and taking about an hour to KL Sentral, TBS, and other destinations. Grab and taxis provide direct transport but are more expensive, while car rentals are also available for convenience. Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are designed as two separate terminals within the same area, located approximately 2 kilometers apart. A free shuttle bus operates 24/7 between the terminals. The journey takes approximately 10 minutes and is completely free of charge. If you board the free shuttle bus at KLIA Terminal 2, it will drop you off at the bus station at Door 4 on Level 1 of the Main Terminal Building in Terminal 1. If you take the shuttle bus from KLIA Terminal 1, it will stop at the Transportation Hub at bay A10 on Level 1 in Terminal 2.
